Smile Makeover in East Wenatchee, WA

Matt Fluegge, DDS has been performing smile makeovers at Fluegge Dental since opening his East Wenatchee practice in 2001. In that time, the cases that draw him most are the ones involving more than one problem at once. A smile that needs whitening and veneers and a crown. A patient who has been putting off treatment for years because they did not know where to start. These are the cases a smile makeover is designed for.

A smile makeover is not a single procedure. It is a treatment plan that combines two or more cosmetic or restorative treatments, selected and sequenced to address everything affecting your smile at the same time. The treatments used vary by patient. The end result is a smile that looks like it belongs on your face, not a generic before-and-after photo.

If you have a list of things you want to change and are not sure how to approach it, this page explains how smile makeovers work here, what treatments are typically included, what the process looks like from consultation to finish, and what it costs.

Why Patients in the Wenatchee Valley Choose Fluegge Dental for a Smile Makeover

Dr. Fluegge has focused on cosmetic and restorative dentistry for over 20 years

Matt Fluegge, DDS graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry in 2000 and opened his East Wenatchee practice the following year. His clinical focus has always been the more complex side of cosmetic dentistry: full mouth reconstruction, veneers, implant-supported restorations, and smile makeovers that require detailed planning across multiple procedures. This is not a side service for us. It is a core part of what Dr. Fluegge does.

When you sit down for a consultation, you are talking directly to Dr. Fluegge, someone who has planned hundreds of these cases. He considers bone structure, facial proportion, gum line, tooth length, and shade balance before recommending anything. The treatment plan that comes out of that conversation is specific to your face, not a menu item.

This is a solo practice. You see the same dentist every time

Fluegge Dental is not a group practice or a dental chain. Dr. Fluegge performs your consultation, manages every step of your treatment plan, approves any lab work, and completes your final restorations. There is no handoff to an associate or a different provider partway through. For a treatment that may span several months and multiple procedures, that consistency matters.

The approach here is conservative — healthy tooth structure is preserved where possible

Every smile makeover involves trade-offs between what a treatment can achieve and what it requires from the tooth. Dr. Fluegge explains those trade-offs before any work is scheduled. If composite bonding can do the job without removing enamel, he will say so. If a crown is needed because the tooth cannot support a veneer, he will explain why. The goal is a result you are satisfied with, not a treatment plan padded with procedures you do not need.

The Ultimate Smile Makeover Contest is a real program, not a promotion

Every year, Dr. Fluegge awards one person a complete smile makeover at no cost through the Ultimate Smile Makeover Contest. This is a community program that has been running for years. Past recipients have received full smile transformations covering whitening, veneers, crowns, implants, and other treatments depending on what their situation required. The contest is open annually. Ask the front desk team for details when you call.

4.97-star aggregate rating on Google

We hold a 4.97-star rating from patients across East Wenatchee and the wider Wenatchee Valley. Cosmetic cases, including smile makeovers, contribute to that rating. If you want to see what the finished results look like before booking a consultation, our before and after gallery shows actual patient outcomes.

Long-term team stability you can count on

Mandy Waterhouse has been part of our team since 2003. Jessica Sturtz joined in 2010. Hygienist Lisa Kissel brings more than 30 years of dental hygiene experience. We haven’t held onto the same people for over 20 years by accident. If you are returning for post-treatment care or follow-up cleanings, you will see the same people you met at your first appointment.

What a Smile Makeover Actually Involves

A smile makeover is a custom treatment plan. It uses two or more procedures, chosen based on what your smile needs and what your goals are. There is no fixed list of treatments every smile makeover includes. The plan is built around your specific situation.

The problems a smile makeover can address include the following. Each one links to a treatment available at Fluegge Dental:

  • Deep or stubborn tooth discoloration (in-office Zoom! whitening, veneers for intrinsic staining)
  • Chipped, cracked, or worn front teeth (composite bonding, porcelain veneers, crowns)
  • Gaps between teeth (veneers, bonding, implants for missing teeth)
  • Missing teeth that affect your smile (dental implants, implant crowns, implant-supported bridges)
  • Teeth that are too small, too large, or uneven in shape (veneers, recontouring)
  • An uneven or asymmetric gumline affecting smile balance (gum recontouring)
  • Minor misalignment that is cosmetic rather than functional (veneers can mask this)
  • Heavily discolored or structurally damaged teeth (porcelain crowns, CEREC same-day crowns)

Most patients who come in for a smile makeover have a combination of these concerns. The plan Dr. Fluegge builds addresses them in the right order, because some treatments need to happen before others. Whitening, for example, should be done before any veneers or crowns are made, so the lab can match the porcelain to your desired shade.

Treatments Dr. Fluegge Combines in a Smile Makeover

The treatments used in a smile makeover depend entirely on what your smile needs. The following are the most commonly included procedures. Any combination of these may appear in your plan.

Zoom! Teeth Whitening

In-office Zoom! whitening lightens teeth up to 8 shades in under an hour. It is typically the first step in any smile makeover involving color correction, because whitening cannot be done after porcelain restorations are bonded in place. Getting your natural teeth to your desired shade first lets Dr. Fluegge match any veneers, crowns, or bonding to that new baseline.

Dental Veneers

Porcelain veneers cover the front surface of a tooth to correct chips, cracks, staining, gaps, and shape irregularities in a single restoration. They require two appointments and involve removing a thin layer of enamel, which is permanent. For patients with multiple cosmetic concerns on their front teeth, veneers are often the most efficient path to a consistent result. You can read more about the full veneer process on our dental veneers page.

Composite Bonding and Esthetic Recontouring

For minor chips, small gaps, and slight shape irregularities, composite bonding can achieve a good result without the enamel removal that veneers require. Recontouring reshapes the edges and contours of front teeth. Both are chair-side procedures that can often be completed in a single appointment. They tend to be used for targeted corrections rather than full smile redesigns.

Porcelain Crowns and CEREC Same-Day Crowns

A crown covers the entire tooth and is used when a tooth is too damaged, heavily filled, or structurally compromised for a veneer. We offer CEREC crowns, which are milled in-office and placed in a single visit without a temporary. For smile makeovers that include a crown alongside veneers, the CEREC option removes the need for a second appointment on that tooth.

Dental Implants and All-on-4

Missing teeth change the appearance of the entire smile, not just the gap they leave. Dental implants replace missing teeth with a titanium post, abutment, and crown that looks and functions like a natural tooth. We perform both the implant placement and the restoration in-house, so there is no referral to another practice. All-on-4 implant systems are also available for patients replacing a full arch. Bone preservation after tooth loss is one of the clinical reasons implants are recommended over other options where possible.

Full Mouth Reconstruction

For patients with extensive dental damage across multiple teeth, a full mouth reconstruction addresses both cosmetic and functional problems in a coordinated plan. This is a different scope than a cosmetic smile makeover and requires advanced planning. Dr. Fluegge has performed full mouth reconstructions since early in his career and considers it one of the more demanding and satisfying types of cases he takes on. Our full mouth reconstruction page covers this in more detail.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Smile Makeover?

Smile makeovers start with a consultation where Dr. Fluegge assesses your dental health before anything cosmetic is discussed. You cannot build a durable result on top of untreated decay, active gum disease, or structural problems. Those get addressed first.

With that said, most adults in the Wenatchee Valley who have maintained their dental health and have cosmetic concerns they want to address are candidates. These are the situations that tend to be a good fit:

  • Multiple cosmetic concerns affecting the same smile (color, chips, gaps, and shape, for example)
  • One or more missing teeth that affect the visible smile zone
  • Prior dental work (old crowns, fillings, or veneers) that no longer matches or has aged
  • Significant discoloration that whitening alone will not resolve
  • Teeth that have been worn down by grinding over time
  • Patients who have been postponing cosmetic work and want to address everything at once

Situations that require additional steps before cosmetic work can begin include active cavities, untreated gum disease, bone loss from missing teeth, or severely broken teeth that need structural repair before a veneer or crown can be placed. Dr. Fluegge identifies these during your initial exam and walks through what needs to happen first.

What the Smile Makeover Process Looks Like at Fluegge Dental

A smile makeover spans more than one appointment. The exact timeline depends on which treatments are included and whether any foundational work needs to happen first. Here is how the process generally unfolds.

Step 1: Consultation and treatment planning

Dr. Fluegge reviews your dental and medical history, takes X-rays, and examines your teeth, gums, bite, and overall oral health. He asks what you like and dislike about your current smile. The goal is to understand your aesthetic preferences, not just the clinical picture. He then walks through which treatments he recommends, why, and in what order they should happen. You get a clear explanation of the process and estimated cost before any work is scheduled.

Step 2: Foundational treatment (if required)

If there are cavities, gum disease, or structural issues that need to be resolved before cosmetic work begins, those are handled first. This phase varies in length depending on what is found during the consultation. Some patients have no foundational issues and move directly to cosmetic treatment. Others need a few appointments to get the underlying dental health in order before the cosmetic phase starts.

Step 3: Cosmetic treatment phase

This is where the visible work happens. Whitening is typically done first if it is part of the plan. Veneer preparation, crown placement, bonding, or implant procedures follow in the sequence that makes clinical sense. Some procedures can be batched into the same appointment. Others, like implants and their crowns, are separated by a healing period. Dr. Fluegge sequences the treatment to minimize the total number of appointments without compromising the result.

Step 4: Final result and follow-up

Once all treatments are complete, Dr. Fluegge reviews the final result and makes any minor adjustments. Post-treatment care recommendations depend on which procedures were involved. Veneers and crowns require the same hygiene routine as natural teeth. Implants need specific attention during the first few weeks. Our hygiene team reviews what to expect at follow-up cleanings and how to maintain the result over time.

What Does a Smile Makeover Cost in East Wenatchee?

Smile makeover costs vary significantly because no two plans are the same. A makeover involving Zoom! whitening and composite bonding on three teeth costs far less than one involving porcelain veneers, a CEREC crown, and a dental implant. The cost is determined by which treatments are included, how many teeth are involved, and the complexity of the case.

In the Pacific Northwest, individual treatments within a smile makeover fall in these general ranges: in-office whitening from approximately $400 to $800, porcelain veneers from approximately $900 to $2,500 per tooth, CEREC crowns from approximately $1,200 to $2,000 per tooth, and single-tooth implants from approximately $3,000 to $5,000 including the post and crown. These are general ranges, not binding quotes. Contact us directly for pricing on your specific plan.

Most cosmetic treatments are not covered by dental insurance. Some foundational work, like treating gum disease or placing a crown on a structurally damaged tooth, may qualify for partial coverage. Dr. Fluegge reviews the insurance picture during your consultation so you know what to expect before any work begins.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cash, and check. CareCredit extended payment plans are available for patients who want to spread the cost over time. Applications can be completed at the front desk. Call (509) 888-3384 with any questions about payment options before your appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions: Smile Makeover in East Wenatchee

How many appointments does a smile makeover take?

It depends on which treatments are included in your plan. A makeover combining whitening and a few veneers may involve three or four appointments. A more involved plan including implants, crowns, and veneers across multiple teeth can span several months. Dr. Fluegge maps out the full timeline during your consultation so you know what to expect before committing to anything.

Veneers are one treatment. A smile makeover is a plan that may include veneers alongside other procedures. If your main concern is the appearance of your front teeth and they are otherwise healthy, veneers alone might be the right answer. If you also have missing teeth, deep staining, or other structural issues, a smile makeover brings those treatments together under one coordinated plan. Dr. Fluegge will tell you during your consultation whether veneers alone cover your situation or whether a broader plan makes more sense.

Yes. That is exactly what a smile makeover is designed to do. Gaps between teeth can be addressed with veneers or bonding. Missing teeth can be replaced with dental implants or implant-supported crowns. Discoloration is treated with Zoom! whitening or covered with porcelain where whitening alone will not reach. The treatments are sequenced so the results work together. Dr. Fluegge plans the order carefully, because some procedures need to happen before others to achieve a result that looks consistent.

The Ultimate Smile Makeover Contest awards one complete, no-cost smile makeover to a winner selected annually by Dr. Fluegge. Past recipients have received full smile transformations covering whitening, veneers, implants, and other treatments depending on their needs. If you want to learn more about the contest or whether you might be considered, ask the front desk team when you call to schedule your consultation.

The procedures included in a smile makeover are the same procedures used individually, and each is performed under local anesthesia where needed. Most patients describe their experience as manageable, with some soreness or sensitivity in the days after individual procedures. For patients with significant dental anxiety, IV sedation is available at Fluegge Dental. A free sedation consultation is offered. Ask about this when you call if anxiety is a concern.

The lifespan depends on which treatments were included. Composite bonding typically lasts five to ten years before it needs touching up. Porcelain veneers and crowns last ten to twenty or more years with proper care. Dental implants are designed to be permanent, with the crown component lasting fifteen or more years before potential replacement. Regular cleanings here and good daily hygiene habits extend the life of every part of the plan.

Yes. Dr. Fluegge will not perform cosmetic work on top of active dental health problems. Cavities need to be filled and gum disease needs to be treated before veneers, crowns, or bonding are placed. This is not a barrier to getting started. It is a sequence. You come in for the consultation, the full exam identifies anything that needs attention first, and the overall treatment plan includes both the foundational work and the cosmetic work in the right order.

Call (509) 888-3384 to schedule a consultation with Dr. Fluegge, or use the online scheduling form. Bring a list of the things you want to change about your smile and any questions you have about cost or timeline. The consultation appointment is the place to cover all of it. There is no obligation to commit to a treatment plan at that first appointment.

Yes. IV sedation is available for patients who experience significant dental anxiety. It can be used for individual procedures within a smile makeover plan. A free consultation is offered specifically for sedation patients. If anxiety has been part of why you have postponed cosmetic dental work, this is worth discussing when you call to book.
